We are deep into February. Time for a little inspiration to keep us going. Peter's son, Daniel, hits a personal best. Plus Voice Memoooooos from two HYWRTian neighbors to the north.
you burn more calories laughing while running!
Starting with a simple question, “How was your run today?”, this podcast has grown from a conversation between two back-of-the-pack marathon finishers to a dedicated community of listeners and guests eager to laugh and learn more about the world’s simplest sport. Hosts Peter Villa and Bryan Gould pair humorous storytelling with wide-ranging (and family-friendly) interviews with notable guests, including marathon winners, Olympians, running coaches, doctors, authors, podcast hosts, ultrarunners, filmmakers, the occasional indie rock star, Santa Claus and many fellow back-of-the-pack running friends.

The world's oldest annual and most historic continuous marathon "featuring 130 years of memories, triumph, and fantastic finishes" is where Bryan and Peter got their start. We cover the race every year, many HWYRTians run it, and we've interviewed such luminaries as Race Director Dave McGillivray and Corinne Griffiths, AKA Boston's running unicorn! We want to support all you participating HWYRTians so please verbal, and get some sponsorship!

Bryan will escape winter to join Internet Dan and Brewmaster Will as they take on the St. Croix 50k. This will be Bryan’s second go at running 31 miles and 3,500 feet of vertical through the jungle with a finish on the beach in paradise. Thank you to long time listener and St Croix local, Kathleen Brownsdon, for inviting us to this magical (and seriously challenging) adventure.

The shortest day of the year, will be the longest run of my life. May end up crying some tears. I really hope that I survive. Gonna put one foot in front of the other. Who knows what I'll discover? This year's Soul-searching Solstice Run took place at Fresh Pond reservoir and park in Cambridge, MA. Congratulations to the participants. If you were there, please verbal!

First held in 2015 as a self-timed, glorified flash mob, the Millinocket Marathon & Half was started to bolster Maine’s most prominent mill town, which was devastated by the closing of their major employer, Great Northern Paper Company. HWYRT played our part in promoting the event, and started the great tradition of the marathon eve Crankle 2K shake-out run, with prizes for best costume. Congratulations to the participants. If you were there, please verbal!
